Privacy Policy

This policy describes Timberwolves Today as it actually operates today, in its pre-launch state. It is deliberately narrow, because the site currently does very little with personal data. When that changes, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.

Summary

• We do not ask you to create an account to read the site.
• Google Analytics remains off unless the public site is enabled and you explicitly accept analytics.
• Our infrastructure provider records standard server logs when you request a page, as any web host does.
• We collect an email address only if you choose to give us one, and only for what you asked.
• We do not sell personal data.

Server logs

Requesting a page from this site necessarily transmits technical information to the servers that deliver it. That typically includes your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, the referring page where one is sent, and your browser and operating system as reported by your browser.

This information is processed so that pages can be delivered, so that abuse and attacks can be detected and blocked, and so that faults can be diagnosed. We do not use it to build a profile of you and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.

Infrastructure and processing

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which acts as our content delivery network and security layer. Requests to this site pass through Cloudflare’s infrastructure, and Cloudflare processes connection and request data on our behalf for delivery, caching, and protection against malicious traffic. Cloudflare operates globally, so this processing may take place outside your country of residence. Cloudflare publishes its own privacy documentation describing how it handles that data.

We keep our processor list short on purpose. If we add a service that processes reader data, such as analytics or an advertising provider, we will name it here before or as it is introduced.

Analytics, cookies and similar technologies

Analytics is disabled throughout the private pre-launch site. After public launch, we may use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate readership only when you choose “Accept analytics.” Until that choice, the Google Analytics script is not loaded and no analytics request is sent by this site.

If you accept, Google Analytics may store first-party identifiers such as _ga and receive information including the page viewed, approximate location, device and browser details, and referral information. Advertising storage, Google Signals and ad personalisation are disabled in our implementation. Google acts as the analytics processor for this optional measurement.

You can reject analytics or reopen “Analytics choices” and withdraw consent. Withdrawal removes the analytics cookies we can identify and reloads the page without the analytics script. Your choice is stored in your browser so we can respect it on later visits.

Cookies or similar tokens may be set by our infrastructure provider where they are strictly necessary to deliver the site securely, for example to manage load or to identify and block abusive traffic. These are essential infrastructure functions rather than tracking, and they are not used to profile you or to target advertising.

We do not load advertising technology. Any future advertising or additional measurement service would require a further policy update and, where required, a new consent choice before it loads.

Email and subscriptions

A newsletter or update list is planned but is not operating yet. When it is enabled, it will work on these terms:

• Subscribing is optional and requires you to actively opt in. We do not add readers to a list because they contacted us about something else.
• We ask for an email address, and nothing more than we need to send what you subscribed to.
• Your address is used to send the content you signed up for. It is not sold, rented, or shared for anyone else’s marketing.
• Every message includes a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
• Where a delivery provider is used to send messages, it will be named on this page before the list opens.

If you write to us directly once our channels are live, we process your message and your address to reply to you and, where the message concerns an error, to check and correct the article. See our contact page for the current status of those channels.

Retention and minimisation

Server and security logs

Retained only as long as needed for delivery, security, and diagnostics, in line with our infrastructure provider’s standard retention periods, and then discarded or aggregated.

Subscription data

Kept while you are subscribed, and removed after you unsubscribe.

Correspondence

Kept while a query or correction is being handled, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we have a record of what was raised and what we did about it.

Our general practice is to collect the least data that lets the site work, and to avoid collecting anything we have no concrete use for.

Children

This site is a general-audience basketball publication and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

External links

We link to other sites, including official league and team pages, statistics providers, and other publications. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.

Your rights and how to reach us

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data we hold about you, including the right to request access to it, to ask for correction or deletion, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to a data protection authority.

Because our contact channels are not yet monitored, we cannot honestly claim a request would reach us today. The address for privacy requests, and the person responsible for answering them, will be published on the contact page before launch, alongside the named editor identity described on our about page.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when what we actually do changes, and the date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes, particularly any introduction of tracking, advertising technology, or new processors, will be described rather than folded in silently.
