Established in 1933, the Southeastern Conference has boosted an incredible number of championship teams and athletes. When it comes to athletic success, SEC Basketball has led the way in the conference for years. Indeed, SEC basketball is comprised of some of the most successful teams in the United States.

The SEC basketball teams (that have enjoyed nationwide success) are from the following universities that make up the conference:

l Alabama

l Arkansas

l Auburn

l Florida

l Georgia

l Kentucky

l LSU

l Ole Miss

l Mississippi State

l South Carolina

l Tennessee – M

l Tennessee – W

l Vanderbilt

Most recently, six men’s Southeastern Conference basketball teams were invited to play in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. SEC basketball has racked up solid success at the men’s national tournament. For example, the conference’s basketball teams have reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the last 19 years. It is rare for an intercollegiate conference to enjoy this level of success.

Not only are men’s SEC basketball teams enjoying amazing success but women’s teams are at the top of the list nationally as well. Five women’s Southeastern Conference basketball teams were invited to the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Two of those teams reached the final four. And, in 2007 and 2008, the national champion in women’s basketball was a SEC basketball team – Tennessee.

In addition to NCAA championship success the SEC basketball program also has obtained a number of significant records. For example, the conference is the only one in the country to have all of its teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 since 2000. Other important records have also been set by SEC basketball.

As is the case in recent years, a good percentage of the SEC basketball teams are ranked in the top 25 by the NCAA. Moreover, a good number of the conference’s basketball players are also ranked amongst the top collegiate players in the United States today. (As an aside, a notable number of SEC basketball players end up being recruited by professional teams when their college days come to an end.)

The SEC basketball programs at the universities of the conference all adhere to a long established mission statement:

“The purpose of the Southeastern Conference is to assist its member institutions in the maintenance of programs of intercollegiate athletics which are compatible with the highest standards of education and competitive sports.”

Not only have SEC basketball athletes excelled on the court but they have performed dynamically in the academic arena as well. Indeed, a good percentage of both the men’s and women’s conference basketball teams have garnered academic as well as athletic recognition and honors. As the mission statement of the conference sets forth, a strong commitment is made to ensure that student athletes enjoy success both on the court and in the classroom.

Analysts predict that SEC basketball will remain at the top of the game into the future. In fact, these experts believe that the conference’s men’s and women’s teams should continue to garner top slots in the NCAA Tournament well into the coming decade.

No matter whether you are following your much-loved NBA team or betting on college basketball, basketball gambling can be pretty basic if you have the correct basketball betting strategies ready. With a couple of helpful basketball betting strategies set into position, you could determine which team in whichever NBA basketball game will win and be able to validate your result with that team’s prior statistics for the season, their most effective players, sprained players, referee bias, and if that games was played both at home or on the road.

As a result, you’d quite possibly have a fairly substantial likelihood of winning your wagers when your basketball betting strategies think about all that was just outlined. Here are a few elements to really concentrate on in basketball gambling:

Number Of Wins For Each and every Team

You have to stay over the number of wins every single is creating in the current season in addition to the past season. The true reason for this is that it presents a decent indication of how efficient the team’s functionality is in general and can be used to come up with good comparisons to different teams’ actions. Opt for taking a look at the win rates of opposing teams, particulary the teams that other teams have conquered. Success on the court, for me, has translated to success in life. There are 5 components of a good experience on the basketball court, and I’ve found that they have a place in my business and personal life as well. They are:

1. Play With the Team
2. Be Aware of what the Other Team is Doing
3. Listen to the Coach
4. Practice
5. Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

Play With the Team

Whether you’re a member of a team or the leader, working well with those around you will ensure success. Letting each member of the team perform his or her duties well help make the overall goal attainable. When each person is able to contribute, the final product will be a success. Don’t try to do it all yourself, rely on your team and be there for them to rely on as well.

Be Aware of What the Other Team is Doing

No good center worth their salt ignores the other team. If you don’t know where they are, you cannot adequately complete your play. This applies to life as well. If you make and sell sneakers, it’s only natural that you should know what your competition is up to. If you want to have the best landscaped yard in the neighborhood, you need to know what the Joneses are up to. If your idea of a great yard includes rose bushes of which you have 10, your neighbor who has 15 has just outdone you. Can you keep up? Not if you don’t know what the other guy is up to.

Listen to the Coach

Your coach may be your boss, group leader or even an older family member. Chances are if he or she is in one of these roles, they know what they’re talking about. Don’t be afraid to solicit and take advice where you need it. And if it’s unsolicited, don’t bristle – you may not be able to see what they see. It’s their job to watch out for you and to help you grow; they’re not in it to tear you down but to build you up. You can learn from their experiences and would be foolish to not take advantage of the knowledge they have to offer.

Practice

To get better at anything, you have to practice. Not just once, but lots of times. If you’re in sales, you need to practice your spiel. If you’re a musician, you’ve got to know your part and study the sheet music. You can’t sight read every time you take the stage; you need to play well, or you won’t be called back. If you’re looking for success on a sports team, you’ve got to practice together. If you’re trying to master a new skill, you’ve got to practice, there’s just no way around it!

Eyes on the Prize

Finally, keep your eyes on the prize. Professionals are in it for the championship. They’ve got a goal and they stick to it. In order to achieve your own successes, you must keep your eye on the goal and stick to it until you’ve gotten there. Keep at it, you can do it!

Boise, Idaho’s 1st Annual Jamaal Al-Din’s Hoops 227 Summer Basketball Camp was a huge success. With community support from local area businesses to coverage of several media outlets, this could be a possible foreshadowing of things to come in the city of trees! Over 30 area sponsors support Jamaal Al-Din’s Hoops 227 which boasts a creative agenda of having 5 different countries represented in it’s 1st annual summer basketball camp which was held at Boise’s Owyhee Elementary.

Coach Jamaal had kids dancing on the court during the later part of the day, which, at many youth basketball camps is unheard of, especially in Idaho. Yes, as evident by the coverage shown by local ABC television affiliate KIVI Channel 6 News this basketball camp and Coach Jammal Al-Din, himself, was able to keep Boise’s youth entertained and excited about Naismith’s game of basketball, one of our countries national past times, for the duration of his two-day basketball clinic.

Countries such as Somalia, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Columbia, and the United States were  represented by the kids who attended the 1st annual Jamaal Al-Din’s Hoops 227 Summer Basketball Camp!

Coach Jamaal’s participants, 3rd-6th grades, shot an astounding 80-85% from the free throw line, as Jamaal Al-Din taught lessons attributed to Baden’s “Smartball” system advertised on ESPN and NFL Network and developed by his former high-school coach, Ed Palubinskas, the former Olympic record holder, LSU great, and former free throw tutor of the NBA’s 4-time World Champion, Shaquille O’Neal who now hosts a series on ABC television promoting healthy kids!

During the summer of 2007, there were are more than 50 youth sports camps presently advertised for youth in Boise, Idaho and Jamaal Al-Din’s Hoops 227 holds acclaim to media coverage given as result of a giving nature which should be modeled by our nation’s AAU coaches and business owners alike!…His camp participants attended for free as a result of such great community support! How else would a group of talented refugee students take part in camp which charged an entry fee of -5 as most do? This was a model structured basketball camp for ada county aau and others to immulate. Why, because kids who are extremely athletic and gifted, recieved the opportunity to participate in a sporting venue that otherwise they would not have been able to attend. The self-esteem generated by such an event is immeasurable.

Coach Jamaal Al-Din will not stop there. These same camp participants will be invited back, in late August for a FREE School Supply Giveaway, sponsored by Boise area businesses! Now, in my mind, this solves two issues. Number one, kids from other contries or cultures may have a difficult time with studies and the english language, resulting in summer school, FREE school supplies will help that cause. And number two, refugee children, etc, attend the first day of school with new books and pens similar to those students who later end up attending our nation’s Yale and Harvard Universities. Hey, the self-fulfilling prophecy is alive and real and maybe these kids will end up doing the same…become Ivy League graduates!

Coach Jamaal is quickly opening doors for Boise, Idaho’s youth, and hopefully others will be inspired, as evident by, get this, you open up the Boise newspaper (Idaho Statesman) and the community events section, this week, now lists an organization as ”Hoops 101″ hosting its own free basketball clinic in late July, hey Coach, you’ve done it!

Lastly, the community and media support has been a true compliment to the people of Boise. Randy, of local ABC television affiliate KIVI Channel 6 News did an outstanding job with coverage. Get this, the guy even went so far as speaking with each participant of the camp, individually! These kids had the time of a lifetime. And the original date scheduled for an interview with Coach Jamaal was changed from June 13, 2007 to June 14, 2007, which could not have been better timing, as the newscast ended up preceding game 4 of the NBA Finals aired on June 14, 2007 day of this particular newscast! Great job KIVI Channel 6, prime exposure of a great cause, thank-you!

Basketball plays will be this pivot of deciding a win or loss; that they could change the wave out of a losing steak, or continue to control the visitors. Granted, a squad with all the truly athletic individual participants in the may even now lose when experiencing a disciplined team as we viewed in the ’04 NBA final. Basketball plays end up being broken down back into one or two wide kinds, offensive and defense. Inside offensive basketball plays , you have various types of formations to break down the defense. Basketball plays are usually the footing of just about any coach’s scheme for succeeding. Without the need of a set of plays, basketball mentors finds it hard to successfully make their squad for occasions they could possibly experience on the court.

Basketball plays tend to be certainly not purely for the attackers, these people may also be function by the defense. An example of a defensive play is a half court trap.

These boys and girls youth hoops plays are “proven winners” and they will work for your youth basketball team . Check out our basketball offensive set play we call Cross. The more game situations you can replicate in practice the more smoothly your basketball plays will run in a game. Routines determine your disposition of a team. The offensive playbook contains various offensive basketball plays. Some of the basketball plays are simple and could be used by youth basketball teams while others are fairly complex.

Therefore the best youth basketball plays are the ones that are easy to understand and simple to run. Instructing basketball plays is really very simple. I can’t think why some find it so difficult to teach. Better Basketball, producer of the world’s most famous and respected basketball improvement videos, also occasionally brings you basketball plays. These basketball plays vary – occasionally they are offensive basketball plays and other times they are defensive basketball plays.

Countless Children’s basketball coaches tend to dissuade, if not really prohibit, individuality plus grasp group totally. This type of basketball coaching falls into the trap of ignoring the fact that occasional individual plays give rise to more effective teamwork, not to mention that it is a morale booster. We connect thousands of youth basketball teams everyday with our easy, do-it-yourself basketball website design, website hosting, team communication, and team management tools. With your youth basketball website, you can also collect basketball registration fees online, find great basketball fundraising services, participate with other members on basketball message boards, search and register for basketball camps and basketball tournaments, and improve your game with great basketball coaching advice, basketball tips & drills, official rules and more!

I have been an NBA basketball fan since young. In the midst of the NBA legends, Michael Jordan is probably the only timeless superstar who inspire awe, admiration and respect for people around the world.
Over the last twenty years, no single basketball player has achieved the kind of cult status like Michael Jordan. His ability to turn around critical situation in a game is simply mesmerizing. His superman image has created profound inspiration for millions of fans.
Michael Jordan epitomizes the character strength of tenacity and determination, which has had tremendous influence on the personality development of countless teenager fans since his time. Despite his quiet demeanor, Michael Jordan has an immense internal drive that never allow himself to be defeated. Deep inside, he was not one to challenge. His ability to rise up and strike down an opponent was simply awe-inspiring, to which he said: “Unless I’m challenged you don’t see the mean streak in me.”
The indomitable competitive spirit in Michael Jordan has made him the most feared and respected opponent for other NBA players. In the lyrics of “Don’t Mess Around With Jim”, Jim Crose described Michael Jordan most aptly: “You don’t tug on superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, and you never pick against Michael Jordan.” After losing to The Bulls in 1998, New Jersey Nets coach John Calipari said: “Playing against Michael is like playing blackjack against the dealer. He ain’t losing.” When Madonna was asked about her favorite player when she was at the Bulls game, she said:”M.J. is an amazing human. A god. If I could coma back as another person, it’d be as him.”
It is interesting to know what had attributed to Michael Jordan’s enormous drive to win. One argument has it that Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, and the devastating trauma of the event had given birth to an extremely competitive spirit that refuses to be beaten. This mentality has made him one of the world’s greatest athletes ever.
In psychology terms, “drive” is synonymous to “arousal”. It is an emotionally charged state that results from a competitive nature. The degree of arousal or drive, up to a certain level, is the key determinant of the quality of performance whether in sports or business. Beyond that optimal level of arousal, any extra drive will only cause performance to decline. This state of optimal performance only last for a short time, during which the mind, body and emotional system are closely aligned. It is a transcendental state where one is optimally situated between euphoria and depression, boredom and excitement, and relaxation and anxiety. In sports, athletes who are in such optimal state are known to be “in the zone”.
It is the state of “flow” that Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi talked about in his book: “Flow”. He said: “Flow is a highly focused state of relaxation concentration that obliterates all else out of consciousness. It is the state of self-actualization or transcendental behavior that is euphoric.”
Michael Jordan’s success lies not just in his extreme competitiveness, but also in his ability to swiftly and frequently enter the flow state, or to be “in the zone”. When he is “in the zone”, he can jump with amazing ease, float through the air in gravity-defying grace, and never miss a shot. It is the state of euphoria that is addictive. He knows it when he is there. When in the flow state, he simply becomes unstoppable. This is the same experience you probably may have had in the past when you find yourself doing everything with amazing ease, as if aided by some divine forces. It is indeed the divine force that is within you when you are in that optimal state of mind, body and emotional alignment.
How can we enter into such flow state?
Being competitive is important but it alone does not help, because competitive drive can only induce anxiety. Anxiety up to a certain level is key to achieving flow state, but any excess of it will not lead to optimal performance. There is a very fine line that exists between under-stressed and over-stressed. The secret of optimal performance is found somewhere in the middle. According to psychologist, a maximum potential for achievement is reached when a subject performs under moderately stressful situation.
In sports, optimal performance is seen when two opponents are closely matched. Any significant gap in the proficiency of opponent will not bring out the best in the other. To the elite sportsman, their closest rival has a special place in their personal pursuit of excellence. Their closest rival is that unique person who has the ability to push them to perform their best.
The key success factors of Michael Jordan provide valuable insights on what we all can do to create success in our life:
- Find something that you are truly passionate about;
- Committed to massive amount of hard work to perfect the core skill sets, and enjoying it in the process;
- Strengthen your mind power with determination and resilience;
- Learn to harness the state of relaxed but intense concentration by regular practice of meditation and creative visualization, which improves the alignment of your mind, body and emotion, and enhance your ability to enter the flow state.
If you can experience flow state regularly in the activities that you pursue, winning in itself is no longer important, although you will inevitably be performing at your best. It is the euphoria state of being in the flow that brings immense joy and fulfillment to life, in its moment-to-moment experience. This is the essence of successful living.

One more time the Lakers stand out summing a new victory to their history and present season success streak. Right now the LA team is in second place in the NBA league standings with a record 20-3 and great possibilities of reaching the Boston Celtics, who are leading the board. On this opportunity, the Lakers met the Timberwolves, who defeated with s 98-86 final score. Although the Californians are enjoying a good winner streak, the emotion and the spectacular tricks have been some of the characteristics absent on their last matches as well as in the last one, before Minnesota, when at the start of the meeting boredom was another member in the field. But the dullness lasted until Kobe Bryant, captain of the Lakers and one of the most complete players on the league, took control over the game with the energy and skills that has distinguished him along his career and made him worthy of several titles; such as: 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player, All-Star Game MVP in which he has participated 10 consecutive times, this are just a few honors among many others. While Bryant accomplished the 26 points in the match, the spectators cheered up and the LA Lakers shined with such a glitter that blinded their rivals; all left was to take advantage of the happening to win. At the middle of the encounter, the duel kept tough and uneven, which woke up the Lakers that with the support of Luke Walton and Jordan Farmar advanced widely in the scoreboard. The 8 points advantage, gave the Californian the strength and motivation necessary to command and domain the game. From that moment on Lakers showed unstoppable thanks to the valuable contributions by Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom on defense.

The other two players that kept present helping their team during the whole match were the Spaniard Pau Gasol, who counts with great experience due to his participation in different international basketball tournaments and the Dominican Trevor Ariza. While Gasol was responsible for 18 points, 11 rebounds, six assistances and a double-double that turned out to be vital for the triumph against Timberwolves, Ariza collaborated with 14 points that gave the team an impulse to finish victorious.

This is the thirteenth success for the LA Lakers from the last 14 matches played as locals, pushing them upper every time closer to Boston’s team. At the moment the distance between the two clubs is as short as three points, a difference that doubtless will make the Lakers give all they got to surpass it. But to achieve it they now very well, they must keep working harder and harder, never low their guard and lose points to reduce their advantage.
