Format of the Game
Regular Session: – The first phase shall be a regular session in which the competing teams are drawn into four groups, each consisting six teams. Each player plays against other team in its group at home and away. This shall result in ten games for each team in the first stage. The top four teams in each group advance to the next round. This is the first year for this kind of format as previously the competing teams were split into three groups of eight teams each; with top five teams in each group plus the best sixth place team advancing.
Top 16:- The surviving teams are divided into four groups of four teams each, then a round robin system is adopted that results in 6 games each. Tiebreakers are identical to those used in the regular session. Games will be held from January 28 till March 13.
Quarter Finals: – In quarter finals, the top 16 teams play second placed teams from different groups in the best-of-five playoff series. The winners are advanced to the final four.
Final four: – The culminating stage of the Euroleague in which four remaining teams play a significant semifinal match and the winners of those advance to the final stage. The losers play in a third-place playoff. The victorious team in the Final will be the Euroleague Champion. The Final four live games will be played from May 1 to May 3 2009.
Top 16:- The top 16 stage will be played from January 28 to March 12, 2009. The draw was made on January 19 at Barcelona. The group winners in the regular season were drawn from one pot and the runners up from another pot. The teams in the 3rd place from one pot and those in the 4th place were from another pot. Teams that played in the same group in the regular session can’t meet again in the Top 16.
Everyone is looking forward to the finals of Euroleague as it promises to be a breath taking display of talent by all the teams.

Each year in October, the annual NBA China Games has become the best arena for a vast number of Chinese fans watching their favorite teams as well as the best star players. In a few days, confrontation between Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers will be staged in Beijing Wukesong Basketball Gymnasium. For such a highly publicized NBA event, what highlights worth our attention?
1. American players re-visit China a year after
Chinese fans are very lucky, we are fortunate to have witnessed in our own doorstep the U.S. team to regain the gold medal in final. Beijing, as NBA’s mega-star, Anthony is the focal point of all attention. I believe that in a few days, “Melon” will have the most supporters in the Wukesong Basketball Gymnasium. Will you be one of them?
2. Top point guard was airborne in Beijing
Rockets, the King, Knights, Magic, Bucks and the Warriors, these six teams which have visited China previously owned not even a top point guard strictly speaking. Jamil Nelson was selected in the All-Star lineup, but after all, there are still a certain gap compare with the most outstanding point guards in the league. This time, Chauncey Billups follow the Nuggets to visit Beijing, thus Chinese fans will have the opportunity to witness how dose a top point guard control the overall situation in NBA games for the first time.

3. “Bird man” performs once again in Chinese arena
Beginning his career from the CBA, and then entering the NBA, a development path that like Chris Anderson’s we dare not say won’t happen none ever after, but it is absolutely unprecedented. For the “bird man”, China definitely has an unusual meaning, and soon he will have the opportunity to show his skills in front of Chinese fans once again. This time, fans will be close-up to experience the superior strength of “bird man” at the defensive end.
4. Whether the Pacers challenge Nuggets or not
The Pacers ranked No. 9 in the east failed to enter the playoffs, while the Nuggets tied the best record in its team history, and successfully forward into regional finals. Strictly speaking these two teams’ strength is not at the same level. For a rare opportunity of the NBA game, I believe that no one wants to see one-sided situation there. And this right made certain requirements to Pacers, especially in the time that Michael Joseph Dunleavy haven’t come back and Tyler Hansbrough added green wound, whether they can create comparative “trouble” to the Nuggets or not has become more important.
5. Direct confrontation between the League’s top small forwards
Last season, Danny Granger and Carmelo Anthony averaged 25.8 points and 22.8 respectively, and ranked No.5 and No.8 separately in the scores of the League. For the two small forwards, a comprehensive offensive-side technology, and diversified means of special points are their characteristics. Given that Granger and Anthony did not excel at defense, fans will have the honor to see peak showdown between the League’s top two small forwards in Beijing NBA tournament arena. A war of scoring is likely to be staged.
The great event will be held at 12:00 on October 11, don’t miss it. For more information about NBA BEIJING GAME 2009 please feel free to click here
